A French Chateau-Inspired Dinner Party

Teddi and Alec were married in a beautiful harborside wedding this Spring. From the very first call we had, we connected over their kindness, sense of humor, and I learned that Teddi was a huge Francophile. This became a major influence in the design of their wedding day. Each section of their Pinterest board was titled in French, so I knew we needed to tie that theme into their stationery.

We did this by incorporating a French toile pattern in their envelope liner and referencing the traditional French phrase that has informed our acronym, RSVP. Flourished calligraphy paired with a serif font was a theme throughout their inspiration images, making The Aurora semi-custom design a perfect fit! The main invitation was letterpress printed onto double-thick cotton stock for an elevated moment. Drawing inspiration from their Spring florals, I also combined an arrangement of floral stamps to create the feel of a vintage set.

Teddi and Alec got ready in a family home near the venue, allowing for a relaxed morning with their loved ones. They wanted the day to feel comfortable and low-key, a natural extension of their personalities.

For their wedding design, Ashley had coined the phrase ‘chateau by the sea’ to describe the French influence paired with the coastal setting of Greenwich Harbor. We leaned into this theme by continuing the toile pattern across their day-of stationery, from table numbers, to custom inserts in the French doors of the reception space. For the table design, Teddi was drawn to the way that the light would dance across the space. An abundance of warm candlelight was paired with crystal glasses, metallic chargers, and a gorgeous iridescent nickel ink for the calligraphy. We added guest’s first names to the double-thick letterpress menus to further add to the movement in the light of the room. The designs remained calligraphy-forward, adding the perfect amount of personalization to their intimate dinner party celebration. This wedding was such a beautiful example of how stationery doesn’t need to have every bell and whistle to still make an impact. Quality materials and thoughtfully designed pieces can elevate the dinner party experience.
