A Bright Spring Wedding on Hilton Head Island

Abby and Tom were one of those couples who, from our very first interaction, felt like I had found my people. They had inquired with me by sending the kindest note, which was only amplified on our first call. I quickly learned that they had a dachshund named Penne (yes, like the pasta), and immediately knew we would be great friends. The two shared with me their vision for their destination wedding. Hilton Head has been a special place for the Mills family, spending many summers enjoying the coast. Abby’s parents now live there full-time, making it the perfect spot for her and Tom to begin their marriage. They told me about how they wanted their wedding to feel like being on vacation with all their favorite people, so that was the inspiration behind their entire design.

We designed their suite in a palette of coastal blues and greens, to be contrasted by the bold pink, coral, and orange florals on the wedding day. We started with The Aurora semi-custom design and brought in lots of wavy shapes for a playful spin. Their envelope liner featured vintage artwork that felt like watching a sunset from their venue. Coastal ticking stripes, a rattan belly band, and subtle accents of hot pink tied the full vision together.

On the wedding day, guests were greeted with the most beautiful views of the palm trees, grassy dunes, and the ocean. The ceremony was framed by bright and colorful florals that perfectly contrasted the blue and green shades of the space. After exchanging private vows, the ceremony was a moment to celebrate with all of their loved ones present. Keep scrolling for the most epic aisle-dip shot I’ve ever seen!

Heading into the reception, we kept their day-of stationery feeling cohesive and intentional. At cocktail hour, guests could find envelopes with their names and table numbers on them. These served not only as escort cards, but each one held a note from Abby and Tom. At each of the bars, we framed coastal bar signs in a rattan frame, further tying in elements of pattern and texture from their suite. The signature drinks were such meaningful and personal nods to their own lives. With the tables being fairly neutral in design, we took this opportunity to bring in a pop of blue through the menus. Guest names were added in spot calligraphy to pull double-duty as place cards. A personal favorite detail was the matchbox design - an adorable keepsake for guests to bring home from Hilton Head. The joy in this day is seen so clearly through these photos. Abby and Tom, it was an absolute privilege to be a part of such a special time in your lives! Thank you for your trust and kindness this entire journey.
